About Us

Shearwater Elementary is a small one-room school located on Denny Island and is only accessible by plane or boat. The student enrolment at the school varies year to year between 10-20 students. Shearwater School is an elementary school that delivers curriculum for students in Kindergarten through to grade 7. Despite the geographic isolation, internet access and access to the supports available through the Central Coast School District (District #49) allow us to offer an extensive support system to any student.

The setting of the coastal rainforest offers many exciting field trip opportunities and often takes learning out of the classroom. This learning is extended into our school garden and greenhouse where our students learn how to maintain a garden and grow their own food.

Shearwater Elementary might be small in numbers, but it is big in the heart of our community.
